The Illinois Marathon has come and gone.  The countless hours of preparation that goes into this event is amazing. People have worked hard all year long to make sure this event would go off without any hitches. Entrants have trained countless hours.

I wonder how many thousands of miles were run during training?
How many total miles were run this weekend by the contestants?
It would be interesting to know.

Congratulations to all. Especially those who completed the marathon.
You are a superstar.
I mean it.
26.2 miles is a long way.
My body would hate me and want to give up.

Congratulations to those of you who completed your first race. You put in all the time and hard work. It paid off. You looked awesome!

Thank you to all of you who volunteered to help make this event possible. You did more than you know. Especially if you encouraged someone. A couple of words can give you that little bit of energy you didn't think you had to get to the finish.

My relay projected our time to be between 4:21-4:40. We killed it and ran it in 4:09, I couldn't be prouder! One of the best parts of the day besides finishing the race is to see what other people are wearing. So many people abandon normal running apparel to make a statement and have fun. Ridiculousness is the norm. There are full body suits, tutus, costumes, anything and everything.

People bring their dogs. They sit in friends yards, cooking out and drinking beer, enjoying themselves but most of all cheering on everyone who runs/walks by. It's a family event. I love every bit about it.

This guy might have the most photographed bum. He might regret wearing those daisy dukes once his bum becomes famous! I wonder if he made it the entire way in those shorts. They look painful. George Washington was seen running the relay.

Ashley passed the belt off to me at the 3rd leg, while Don congratulated her on finishing her 7 miles in 57 minutes. (Ashley I want to make sure that is correct)

One the things that is so great about this marathon and the gym we belong to is the community support. So many people come out to support those who are running. Some good friends of ours from the gym came out to watch us finish.
