I Like Mustard on My Cheetah

If you've ever taken an art class your teacher would have kept drilling about how important composition and proportion are to good design. I have taken many art classes and I couldn't be more displeased with how these came out. There are a couple of reasons for my displeasure:

1. I am adjusting to a new fixed lens
2. Things are so much easier when you are behind the lens rather than a tripod and remote.
3. My feet, they've been cut off! Such an awkward crop. (plus the shoes were so darn cute!)

So there you have it, here are the best of the worst photos ever. Next time I promise to include the shoes in my outfit post. They were really wonderful.

Still working out the kinks on this whole remote/tripod taking picture thing. It's much different. Maybe I need to enlist someone to take them for me!

**NOTE**: Yes I know, I could have cropped these via editing. I did and for some reason or another they didn't save and I was in a time crunch.

Top: H&M (old). Cardigan: J.Crew (old). Skirt: LOFT (old). Bag: Coach (old). Bracelets: Banana Republic and Estate. Rings: Handmade, Estate.

I kind of surprised myself with this skirt. I've always had a love for cheetah, it's the newest neutral BUT I've never liked pink. When I saw this skirt I thought it would be either be hit or miss! Well it's a hit, and I really like it! There are so many options to wear this with and initially this might not have been my first choice. The mixture of texture and color work! I'll have to do a rework next time I wear it!!

I really want to pair it with a printed top. We shall see what I come up with!

Hopefully next time I will be footed!

Bell- Bottomed. They're Back!

Blouse: thrifted. Jeans: Gap. Necklace: The Limited (old).

I'm still trying to get out the editing kinks. Seems I need to read up. It was too cold and windy for me to head out into the elements for some exciting photos. The sun hasn't been out today leaving us with a dreary day. We had an interesting morning trimming Jack's nails and it wasn't because he wouldn't stand still. I ended up cutting two of his quicks and it looked like we had a murder scene on our hands with all the blood. It amazes me how fast/ much they bleed! I'll spare you the rest of the details. In a moment like that you'd think he would have been squirmy and in pain, but he was calm as can be waiting for us to nurse his wounds.

Last night I ventured out to Decatur to watch my alma mater in the super sectional for women's basketball. The result wasn't what I was hoping but they played hard against a veteran squad, who had previously won state last year.

The after affects of a busy weekend are finally kicking in, I should be in bed but here I am. Is it just me or is anyone else obsessed with Instagram?

Stripe Obsessed

Jacket: Loft (Fall 2010). Dress: Banana Republic (something similar here). Boots: J. Crew (old). Watch: Timex Weekender (Target).

Hello, hello! February is finally here! January seems to have lingered for so long and typically the weather is really crummy. Thank goodness we started off  February on the right foot, 55 degree weather! This time last year we were getting hit with cold weather and piles of snow.

So here is it, my first outfit post. Nothing fantasy, I guess you could call this a test run. Hopefully over time they will only get better. How could I not resist today? The weather was so perfect it was begging for me to take some photos. While I was outside taking some photos I should have been out cruising on my bike. I've been such a gym rat lately, it would have been refreshing to hit the pavement.

Oh and yesterday I did indeed get my first run of the year in. I was shocked how smoothly it went. For this race, the distance is much shorter so I want to take my time training. Start out with a couple miles or so twice and week, work on my times and then increase my distance. When I trained for the half marathon last spring we dove right in, starting with 4 miles. I can tell this time around I am physically stronger and it will be a better training experience because I am taking a more laid back approach and I know what to expect. Last year I had no clue what I was getting myself into and wasn't extremely fond of running. After the race I ran a few different times but other than that I quit cold turkey. I am back for more and am really excited to be running in a relay and having the chance to work together as a team! Will you be participating in any of the Illinois Marathon events? Or any running events this year?
